The People's National Front PNF has submitted its application form to the Elections Commission today, seeking permission from the electoral watchdog for its inception.
PNF is spearheaded by jailed ex-President Abdullah Yameen who announced last Thursday that he had decided to leave PPM and form his new party.
The head of Yameen's lawyer team and his former Vice President Mohamed Jameel Ahmed along with former Government Minister Mohamed Maleeh Jamal and other ex-officials from PPM were present at the Commission today.
The formation of PNF seems to be on the fast track with the name, logo, and the colors for Yameen's party finalized within days after his announcement about forming the new party.
In an interview with Channel 13, Jameel said that the leaders of PPM and PNC do not attend the former President's trial hearings and that they have been talking against him on podiums.
Jameel said that even though PPM and PNC leaders said that they would work under the instruction of Yameen, they have been ignoring his calls.
The former Vice President said that the upcoming parliamentary elections are crucial with a greater need for more political work and that PPM has been 'hijacked' by the leaders of PNC.
