One of the suspects arrested for the murder of Filipino nurse Mary Grace, local nurse Haleemath Lamha has been released on bail with conditions.
At the latest hearing held in the trial of Lamha, who was revealed to be the lover of the victim's husband who is accused of her murder, state prosecutors insisted that there was no reason why Lamha and the victim's husband, Marvin must be granted bail.
But Lamha's lawyer appealed to the court to release his client with an electric monitor on her legs as she requires medical treatment.
Today, the Criminal Court held a custody review hearing for Lamha and the presiding judge ruled to grant the suspect conditional bail.
The Court granted Lamha a bail of three months and ordered her to notify the court before leaving Male as well as make herself available whenever the court informs.
The Judge's conditions prohibit the suspect from going out between 10:00 pm and 06:00 am.
Lamha was charged with accessory to murder along with two other charges for the death of Mary who worked at Indira Gandhi Memorial along with the two suspects in her murder.
Mary's husband, Marvin was charged with murder after he was arrested in October of 2021. Lamha was arrested in December of the same year.
