Maldives Immigration says Maldivians are not required to fill out the 'Travel Declaration form' when they arrive or depart from the Maldives.

It said that this was effective since yesterday.

Immigration said that the decision to discontinue the 'Travel Declaration form' for Maldivians was the first taken by the new Controller General of Immigration Mohamed Shamman Waheed since he took on the job earlier this week.

It said that the form was discontinued for locals to facilitate an improved traveler experience for Maldivians as many have raised concerns about the need to fill out the form.

Immigration further said that its main purpose was to facilitate easy access to its services to the people.

It first introduced a traveler declaration form back in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic as a 'Traveler Health Declaration' form. Later in March of 2021, Immigration changed it to an online embarkation/disembarkation form.

The Immigration said back then that all passengers coming and leaving the Maldives must fill out this form.
