The Housing Ministry has announced the monthly payments for the flats issued under the Gedhoruveriya housing scheme round one.
The Ministry today published its final list of flat recipients after it opened the list to the public to submit complaints. The Ministry said after the changes brought on by the complaints, three-room flats would be first given to those who scored 76 and above.
It further said that the rest of the three-room flats would be given to those who are selected after a draw among the applicants who scored 75 marks.
The Ministry said that the two-room flats would be given to those who scored more than 73.
In today's announcement, the Ministry set the monthly payments for the flats. It said that for three-room flats the rent has been set to MVR 7000 and that the recipients have to pay an additional MVR 1,000 as maintenance fee. This would take the monthly payments for three-room flats to MVR 8000.
As for two-room flats, the Ministry set the monthly rent at MVR 5,000 and an additional MVR 1000 for maintenance taking the total monthly payment to MVR 6,000.
The Ministry said that flat recpients must start paying the monthly payment three months after sigining the flat agreement and that they have to pay for 300 months (25 years).
