Police have revealed the details of the promotions given to numerous officers just days before President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's reign comes to an end.

They revealed the details as many aimed criticism at the timing of the promotions as President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu asked the Police to refrain from giving out promotions during the transitional phase.

A total of 8 officers were promoted to Chief Superident rank while 53 officers were promoted to Chief Inspector ranks. Several officers including Yunus Sobah, Asim Abdullah, Mohamed Rasheed, Ahmed Shameem, Mohamed Basheer, Hussain Rasheed, and Moosa Ali were all promoted to Assistant Commissioner rank.

In a message to the media, Police said that these promotions have been in the works since April as they were announced back then. Police said that the promotions were not announced then because the Presidential Election was on the horizon and as it would be perceived wrongly.

The Presidential Elections were held in September.

Police also said that the promotions were given as per the guidelines set under Police regulations when giving rank elevations.
