Police say they have received a report of an incident where a woman with a sharp object attacked a man on one of the streets in the capital Male'.

They said that the incident was reported on the 24th of this month and that the attack happened near Kalaafaanu School in the Henveiru ward of Male'.

Police said they were now investigating the incident.

However, the Police did not mention whether or not any individual has been arrested in relation to the case. Nor did the Police give any other details about the incident.

Violent crimes such as stabbing and assault have increased in the Maldives over the years and women perpetrators have also increased in the country.

Last month as well 74 cases of physical harm were reported to the Police while 63 cases of damaging other people's property were reported to the Police.

The Police also revealed that in the last month, 16 incidents of domestic violence were also submitted and 29 cases of sexual harassment were also reported to the Police.
