President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has formed an 8-member committee to compile the proposed state budget for next year and the budget the new government would submit to the parliament.
Speaking at the news briefing today, Transitional spokesperson Mohamed Firuzul Abdullah Haleel said that the President-elect has increased the number of members on the committee to 8 and then identified the members.
The members of the committee include;
- MP for Maavashu Constituency Mohamed Saeed
- Former Vice President and former Finance Minister Abdullah Jihad
- MP for Guraidhoo Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon
- Former Tourism Minister Moosa Zameer
- Former Finance Minister Ahmed Munnavar
- Former MMA Governor Ahmed Naseer
- Former state Minister of the Economic Ministry Mohamed Luvaiz
- Former Board member of Pension Office Abdul Haleem
MP for Maavashu Constituency Mohamed Saeed was appointed as the chair of the budget committee.
Firuzul said that the budget Committee has started its work last week and that the budget would depend on the information the Transitional committee collects from government organization and the 100 days pledge of the President-elect.
He added that the new government is yet to finalize its new budget.
