Chair of the Transitional Committee Abdu Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey) says President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has full discretion to form his own cabinet and that he had no knowledge of a list prepared by former President Abdullah Yameen on a future cabinet.
He said this while speaking at a press conference held at the President-elect's office.
During the Presidential election campaigning, reports circulated that the former President had formed his own list for the cabinet.
Denying these reports today, Adhurey said that forming a cabinet is a power vested to the President by the constitution and that it is not the practice to have someone else form the cabinet.
Adhurey said he had no knowledge of former President Yameen compiling such a list and President-elect Muizzu taking a decision on such a list.
He further said that the people have entrusted the presidency for the next five years to Muizzu and that Muizzu would be the one in the limelight for his pledges to the people.
Adhurey said hence the President's cabinet must have his 100 percent trust.
The Chair of the Transitional Committee said that for the transition of the governments, the Committee has formed 15 sub-committees and that 40 people are working on each committee. He said around 500 people are working for the smooth transition of power and that the Committee has now sent letters to all almost government organizations. He further said that they have received answers from most and that they have now met with these organizations to clarify administrative as well as structural changes during the transitional period.
