President-elect Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that his first trip after winning the Presidential Election would be to Thaa Atoll Guraidhoo.

In an interview with 'Vaguthu TV', Muizzu said that on his trips to the inner islands during the Presidential Campaign, people from each island were asking him to visit them first after winning the election.

Noting that he cannot visit all the islands at once, Muizzu said after discussions within the PPM/PNC leadership, it was suggested that the President-elect should first be the island that won him the most percentage of votes and that it has now been decided like this.

Muizzu said that in the second round of the election, Thaa. Atoll Guraidhoo gave him the highest percentage of votes and that there were other islands that came close to these numbers.

The President-elect promised that once he began his official work as the next President of the Maldives, he would make his promised trip to Guraidhoo.

Two ballot boxes were kept at Thaa Atoll Guraidhoo and Muizzu won both boxes by claiming more than 70 percent of the votes from each box.

He received 75.6 percent from one box and 72.4 percent from another.
