Two MPs from Addu have been attacked in broad daylight.
MP for Maradhoo Constituency from MDP Ibrahim Shareef said that he was attacked while he was in the Manhattan Business Hotel. Photos on social media show that the assailants have hit the MP on his face and his eyes were swollen due to the attack.
Police said that they had received the report of the incident and that police officers were dispatched to the scene to conduct further investigations.
Meanwhile, MP for Feydhoo Constituency Mohamed Nihad was also attacked today. Sources have said that a group of assailants attacked MP Nihad after a verbal altercation between the two parties.
MP Nihad was performing electoral duties when he was attacked. While the extent of his injuries remains unclear, sources have confirmed that the MP sought treatment from the Addu Equatorial Hospital.
