President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says in the last five years his administration has not done anything that would put the people's freedom in jeopardy.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, President Solih, who is seeking re-election, said that people who have ruled before him are spreading lies about the country's freedom and sovereignty.
President Solih said that he did not think that they (referring to the Opposition) would distort the truth to such an extent just to come back to power.
He further said that the purpose of the opposition spreading these lies is to make people believe that it is the truth and that some people have fallen for these lies.
President Solih pointed out that this administration scrapped the amendment brought to the Constitution that would pave the way for foreigners to own land in the Maldives and ensure that each and every grain of sand in the Maldives remained protected.
He further said that his letter to the Prime Minister of Mauritius also contained how the Maldives must act in a UN vote and the contents of this later have now been revealed to the country.
The President also touched on the Uthuru Thila falhu which the opposition has been saying is being developed by India for Indian Military purposes.
He said that he and his administration has been taking action by priotising the interest of the whole country and its people.
