The High Court has canceled today's hearing of the appeal case filed by former President Abdullah Yameen contesting the conviction against him in the leasing of Aaarah case by the Criminal Court.
A member of his defense team, former Vice President Mohamed Jameel Ahmed said that today's hearing was canceled because State Prosecutors were too 'busy' to attend the hearing.
He said that the cancellation of the hearing was a gross injustice against the former President and that many hurdles including logistical disarrangements have been used to delay the appeal process.
Yameen's appeal hearing had been scheduled for 02:00 p.m. today but was canceled upon the request from the State.
The cancellation comes a day after leaders of the opposition coalition went to the High Court to voice concerns about the delay in the ex-President's appeal process at the High Court.
Speaking to reporters after arriving at the High Court, PNC President Abdul Raheem Abdullah (Adhurey) said yesterday that the High Court has not decided to put the case on the agenda for the next three weeks.
