The Chinese Embassy in the Maldives has issued a statement lamenting the media attacks against China that it says are totally fabricated in an attempt to undermine the bilateral relationship between the Maldives and China.
The Chinese Embassy said that it had noticed some vicious attacks against China by some media persons and that they totally fabricated only to smear China and undermine China-Maldives friendly relations.
It said that China always follows the policy of non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.
The Embassy further said that what China has done in Maldives is only to help its economic and social development, from which the local people have benefited a lot.
It stated that it is believed that the Maldivian people will not be misled by fake news.
The Embassy said that it had requested the Maldivian government to thoroughly investigate those fabricators.
It finished by saying that the fabricators' attempts to undermine the China-Maldives friendship will be doomed to fail.
The statement from the Chinese Embassy came days after a similar statement from the Indian High Commission in the Maldives expressing concerns about damaging media reports targeting India.
