State Minister at the Planning Ministry Akram Kamaaludeen says the Ministry is set to begin handing over land registries to individuals who won land plots under the Binveriya Housing Scheme tomorrow.
A total of 19,631 individuals have been deemed eligible in the final list for the ‘Binveriyaa’ Housing Scheme, with 18,948 set to receive one of the currently available 9,003 land plots.
The Ministry concluded land plot draws earlier this month and had said that it would begin handing over the registry soon.
Speaking to 'The Press' Akram said that the Ministry is set to begin the handovers tomorrow. He said that the land registries would be issued in groups. He added that the land plot recipients would be notified of the time and place beforehand.
The Government promised to give land registries to the recipients instead of a letter that says they have received the land from the government.
A Land registratry is believed to be more legally binding than a letter of ownership.
The government planned to give 1,351 land plots from Hulhumale', 2,218 from Gulheefalhu, and around 5,432 from Giraavaru Falhu which is yet to be fully dredged.
