Maldives National Party MNP Presidential Candidate Colonel Retired Mohamed Nazim says he does not believe that progress can be brought to Addu just by developing the city and that the nearby Atolls must be developed too to bring collective progress to the region.
Speaking at a campaign rally in Addu City Hithadhoo, Nazim said that many chances have been given to different administrations including those of MDP and PPM.
Noting that a PPM administration was also given the chance to bring about developmental change in Addu City, Nazim said that it failed to fulfill any of the pledges it made for the city.
Nazim stated that no administration has been able to bring about development with the true meaning of the word.
He said that he has compiled a plan to bring about developmental changes to the whole of the South after talks with the local authorities in the region.
The MNP Candidate said that development is not just establishing water and sewerage systems and building harbors and that true progress is achieved when citizens thrive financially.
Noting that this is still far from reality, Nazim said that if he is elected as the President he would strive to make sure that the people of the country are financially stable and secure.
He highlighted that the people of the country can only lead meaningful and content lives once the country's economic situation changes. He said that an MNP administration would give its sole focus on the country's economy and once the country's economy is restored, the social aspects of the community would resolve itself.
