The Opposition Coalition decides to hold a huge motorcycle rally in Male' today as party leader and ex-President Abdullah Yameen completes 1000 days in jail.

The Opposition said that the rally would kick off at 04:00 pm this evening and that it would begin in front of the PPM main office in Male'.

It said that the purpose of the rally was to protest the unjust jailing of former President Yameen.

Yameen is currently serving an 11-year jail sentence for money laundering and bribery convictions and this is his second stint behind bars after he lost the presidential election back in 2018. The ex-President has spent 1000 days in jail now.

The opposition has been regularly holding protests in Male' against his jail sentence and has been calling for his immediate release.

The protests have also been seen on the islands too especially when MDP Candidate President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih visits the island on his campaign trip.

Yameen is currently trying to vacate his convictions by appealing to the High Court but the appeal is process is progressing rather slowly much to the anger of the opposition who claim that this was because the government is influencing the judicary.
