Interim leader of PPM/PNC coalition Abdul Raheem Abdullah says the opposition would kick off the campaign activities of PNC's Presidential Candidate Male' City Mayor Mohamed Muizzu this weekend.
Speaking to the media, Abdul Raheem said that both PPM and PNC were standing behind Muizzu and that they were steadfast in their commitment.
He said that coalition teams would begin trips to the inner islands during the weekend and that they would return with majority support from the islands.
Abdul Raheem said that the opposition would follow the manifesto of former President Abdullah Yameen and that they would present this manifesto for the Presidential Election.
He said that the opposition would gradually launch the components of the manifesto and that they would do it in a strategic manner.
Leaders of both PPM and PNC appeared to have endorsed Mayor Miuzzu as the opposition's Presidential Candidate after former President Abdullah Yameen beseeched them to do so after the media reported that the leadership was reluctant to fall behind the mayor.
Though Yameen filed his candidacy at the Elections Commission, the electoral watchdog rejected his candidacy. Though he contested the rejection at the Supreme Court, the top Court also ruled that the jailed ex-President cannot compete in the election.
