The Parliamentary session held today to discuss the composition of the parliament's committee has been cut short without any work done.

The session, which lasted less than five minutes, was chaired by Vilifushi MP Hassan Afeef.

Only one task is scheduled for today's session; It is only about restructuring the standing committees and changing the committees to represent members belonging to the parties and independent members.

However, with the change to parliament composition, the Parliamentary secretariate decided to hold a session after sending the committee report back to the members and giving them an opportunity to propose amendments.

But the Secretariate did not announce a date for the next session.

These recent changes include Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed leaving MDP along with the MP for Hithadhoo Medhu Constituency Ahmed Rasheed while MP for Kaashidhoo Constituency Abdullah Jabir joined MDP

Before MP Afeef ended the session, some MDP members were heard shouting for a point of order.

The MDP parliamentary group sent a letter to the parliamentary office on the day the parliament went into recess saying that the second session has ended without a decision on the committees and the important issues submitted to the parliament.

According to the rules of the House, if a request for an extraordinary session is signed by one-third of the MPs and submitted to the House Office, the Speaker must arrange for the session to be held within 14 days, including holidays.

According to the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, the sessions of the Parliament are divided into three terms during the year; The first term runs from February 1 to April. The second term will run from May 14 to June. The third term will run from August 16 to November.
