The Parliament's Public Accounts Committee held a closed-door hearing with members of the Anti-Corruption Commission today.

The ACC requested the meeting to discuss the obstacles it faced to close the cases filed at the Commission. The Committee members did not give a reason why the meeting was held behind closed-doors.

The motion to hold the meeting in secrete was submitted by the MP for Kelaa Constituency Abdullah from the ruling PNC which was seconded by the MP for Henveriu North Constituency Ahmed Aifan who is also from PNC.

All 11 members present at the committee meeting voted in favour of holding the meeting behind closed doors.

The ACC is facing political and public pressure as it has been accused of being incompetent.

The Prosecutor General's Office has also said that the ACC is delaying criminal investigations and recovering money lost to the state in corruption and fraud cases.
