A third Maldivian passes away while on the annual Hajj Pilgrimage this year.

The latest pilgrim to pass away in the holy City of Mecca has been identified as 70-year-old Gasim Ibrahim of Noonu Holhadhoo.

He died suddenly while at his hotel in Mecca.

Gasim went on the pilgrimage with Hajj Corporation.

Earlier, two local men also died in Mecca including the 72-year-old Ali Hassan of Dhaalu Maaenbudhoo. He passed away on Friday evening while under treatment at Saudi Jaman Hospital in Mecca.

Another Maldivian was also confirmed dead last Friday while on the Hajj pilgrimage.

The Islamic Ministry confirmed that 72-year-old Mohamed Naseem was found dead after he went missing on the 26th of June while in the tent city of Mena.

Naseem went on the Pilgrimage with Al Haramain Hajj and Umrah group and was later found dead near the Hira Mountain days after he went missing.

The Hajj group identified the body of the deceased after the hospital to which he was taken called them to come and identify the body.

His family quoted the hospital to say that he had been taken to the hospital 24 hours or 36 hours after he had died. Naseem's family said that the hospital had not revealed his cause of death but they speculated that it was because he had been exposed to the conditions.
