MPs representing the Opposition Coalition have taken out the seats of the Parliament after the legislative house remained closed for a second day running.

The Opposition MPs found the Parliament locked when they arrived for today's session and then proceeded to take out the seats from the chamber. Social media videos showed MP for Naifaru Constituency Ahmed Shiyam and MP for Faremaathoda Hussain Mohamed Latheef physically removing the chairs from the chamber.

MP Latheef later attempted to take one of the chairs out of the Parliament grounds but security officials stepped in to intervene.

At a press conference held today at the Parliament today, Parliament Minority leader and MP for Eydhafushi Constituency Ahmed Saleem said that the government had put a big lock on parliament and only the majority leader can resolve the situation

Noting that the Majority leader accused the opposition of disrupting the parliament, Salim said that it has always been clear who had disrupted the parliament and acted out of the regulations.
