President of PNC Abduh Rahman Abdullah (Adhurey) leaves behind a handwritten letter addressed to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at his office after being denied a meeting with the President yet again.
The Opposition shared a photo of the letter on social media in which Adhurey said that leaders of the opposition have tried to meet with the President for four days without avail. He said that the purpose of the meeting was to share concerns pertaining to the public.
In the letter, Adhurey highlighted several areas of concern that the opposition coalition felt should be addressed immediately. This includes the long-term jail sentence against former President Abdullah Yameen, the alleged sale of Maldivian waters, lands, and the country's sovereignty, and the fact that the parliament has been disrupted.
In the letter, Adhurey said that the opposition has sent a letter addressed to the President before but had to leave behind a handwritten letter today because their attempts as per the official protocols set by the President's Office have failed.
He said that the President's Office had informed the opposition that the President had not received any letter from his official protocol.
Speaking outside the President's Office, Adhurey insisted that the opposition would not cease their attempts to meet the President unless they receive a reply to the letter or get a meeting with the President.
He said that if the President is willing to bear the responsibilities of the Presidency, he must meet with the opposition and hear out their concerns too.
