President's Office says President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Vice President Faisal Naseem as the Amir al-Hajj for this year.

It said that as the Amir al-Hajj, the Vice President would ensure the smooth and safe operation of the Maldivian pilgrims traveling to Saudi Arabia.

The President's Office also said that the administration accords high priority to the secure and smooth conduct of the Hajj pilgrimage.

It added that all necessary actions are taken to ensure the safety and well-being of pilgrims.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has granted the Maldives 1000 Hajj quotas this year and the Islamic Ministry confirmed that the first of the Hajj Pilgrims from the Maldives will depart tomorrow.

The Ministry said that a total of 6 flights carrying pilgrims are scheduled to depart in the coming days with the latest flight scheduled to depart on the 19th of this month.

Hajj flights have also been scheduled for the 13, 15, and 16 of this month.
