It has been revealed that one of the suspects arrested in relation to the murder of Naeema Moosa of Noonu Atoll Manadhoo was apprehended before in relation to a drug case.
Yesterday, Commissioner of the Police Mohamed Hameed said that two suspects related to the crime are currently under police custody though he did not reveal the identity of the suspects.
Today, it has been reported that one of the suspects arrested in relation to the brutal murder of Naeema who was found dead in her home earlier this month.
One of the suspects is believed to be 23-year-old Azuham Abduh Shukoor who was arrested two to three days back in relation to a drug case. But the Manadhoo magistrate court added 14 more days to his remand period due to the allegations of murder against the suspect.
The Court said that his remand was increased as there was sufficient evidence to link him to another crime and that if released he might pose a threat to society.
The court documents also said that if released, he might tamper with a key witness willing to give a testimony in relation to the case.
The Commissioner also said that while two suspects were currently under custody, Police were searching places vital to the crime. He also said that police have found two weapons used in the murder and the clothes the suspects were wearing during the assault that led to Naeem's death.
Hameed said that police found these items buried in a shallow pit and that the pit was set on fire along with the items before they were found.
