Medhu Henveiru Councillor of Male' City Council Adam Rameez has resigned from the opposition PPM party amid a misconduct investigation.

Rameez's letter to PPM is now circulating on social media and in it, he said that he was resigning from the party as he is unable to take part in the activities held by the party.

Rameez resigned from PPM while the party is investigating a misconduct allegation against the Councillor.

The Press has come to know that the misconduct complaint against him pertains to his campaigning for Male' City Mayor and PPM's Vice President to become the party's Presidential candidate for September's election.

Currently, PPM has given its presidential ticket to former President Abdullah Yameen who remains in jail following convictions of money laundering and accepting bribes back in December.

Sources said that the investigation into the misconduct was ordered by Yameen himself.

Rumors surfaced yesterday that fellow PPM councilor Ibrahim Shujau and PPM Vice President and MP for Naifaru Constituency Ahmed Shiyam were willing to testify against Rameez during the investigation.

But PPM denied these reports and said that they had no plans to give any testimonies.
