This year's O'level exams have begun in the Maldives as the Education Ministry confirmed that 176 students would sit for the Art and Design paper today.

The Ministry said that students from 26 exam centers would be sitting for the paper. It added that the exams would continue till tomorrow.

The O'levels are set to continue till next June. Only the Art and Design exams would be given during Ramadan with all the other exams on other subjects scheduled to be held after Ramadan.

Next up would be exams for Dhivehi, Islam as well as Arabic studies.

The SSC exam for Islam is scheduled to be held on the 25th and 26th of this month while the Arabic exam would be on the 27th of this month. The SCC exam for Dhivehi language would be held on the 29th and 30th of this month.

The rest of the exams would begin starting 2nd May and O'level exams would conclude on the 8th of June with the paper on Biology.

Before the COVID pandemic, the O'level exams were held in October/November of each year. But after the Education Ministry decided to change the start of the academic year to August, it would also hold the O'level exams in May/June.
