Vineet Jindal, a Supreme Court lawyer, filed a complaint with Delhi Police on Monday against Pro-Khalistani protesters who are protesting at the Indian Embassy in Washington, DC, and asked Delhi Police to file a FIR against them and take strict action against them, including revoking their passports, as required by law.
According to the complaint, the protesters intimidated and abused the Indian Ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, as well as the staff of the Indian embassy in Washington. They also trashed the Indian embassy and verbally and physically assaulted an Indian journalist in Washington, agitating and inciting the public at large against the Union of India immediately outside the Indian Embassy.
On March 25, a group of pro-Khalistani protestors in Washington DC assaulted and threatened Taranjit Singh Sandhu, the Indian Ambassador to the United States, while making anti-India and anti-Indian government comments. Protesters were also seen inciting violence and vandalizing the Indian consulate.
According to the complaint, one of the Khalistani marchers is seen in a widely disseminated video making unsubstantiated accusations about purported deaths of religious minorities in India.
The protesters' words clearly demonstrate that their intention was to instigate Sikhs and Muslims against the Indian state and government.
Protesters were spotted attempting to incite violence against embassy workers through their statements, as well as causing physical damage to the Indian Embassy's premises.
These activities and remarks by pro-Khalistani demonstrators are inflammatory and provocative in nature, with the intent of sowing discord, animosity, and enmity among India's many religions and masses, and inciting the masses to fight against the Indian government, according to the complaint.
According to the lawsuit, the majority of the protestors are Indian citizens with Indian passports.
The complaint further urged that the Delhi Police file a FIR against them and take harsh action against them by withdrawing their passports in accordance with the law.
Pro-Khalistan protesters in the United States threatened the Indian embassy and Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu on Saturday. They threatened and announced that the "hypocrisy" would end and that the personnel at the embassy would have nowhere to go.
Hundreds of supporters of Khalistan rallied outside the Indian Embassy in the United States.
Pro-Khalistan slogans were shouted by turbaned men of all ages among the protesters. The organizers utilized microphones to deliver anti-India statements in both English and Punjabi, and they specifically attacked the Punjab Police for alleged human rights violations.
