President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has welcomed coalition partner Adhaalath's decision to back him in the upcoming presidential elections.

Having had talks with MDP in the last two days, Adhaalath said in a statement yesterday that the best way to maintain and protect the current situation was to back President Solih and that the party's discussion committee decided on supporting the President for a second term.

Welcoming this decision via Twitter, the President thanked the Adhaalath party for its decision.

He also said that he wants all to work together to make sure that the country sees a better tomorrow.

The Chairperson of MDP and Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail joined the President in thanking and welcoming the Adhaalath Party for its decision.

Fayyaz said that although Adhaalath faces challenges within and outside of the coalition, he was happy that Adhaalath has decided to stand by MDP for the election.

MDP hailed Adhaalath's decision as one made for the country and its people as Adhaalath too believes that true peace and development can be brought on by a coalition government.
