MDP Chairperson and Economic Minister Fayyaz Ismail says that even though there is discontent within the party, he is not daunted by this fact.
Speaking at the meeting of the MDP Congress last night, Fayyaz said that there are differences in opinion within the party and that it is disheartening to have such differences when things were being settled through the democratic process.
He noted that this was human nature and assured that all the matters would be settled within party regulations.
Fayyaz further said that he would lead any process that would strengthen the party and that he would not step back in making sure that President Solih for a second term. He added that he is prepared to do anything to re-elect the President without or without a coalition.
MDP Chairperson's reaffirmation comes after veteran MDP member and former MP for Henveiru Dhekunnu Constituency filed a case at the Civil Court asking for an injunction on stopping MDP from handing over its Presidential ticket to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and to hold the MDP again.
President Solih had won the primary after competing against President of the Party Mohamed Nasheed by a margin of nearly 9,000 votes.
MDP had announced that it would hold a special gathering tomorrow to hand over the ticket to the President.
