Police have arrested 3 individuals over the smashing of ballot boxes in Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo and Rathafandhoo of the same atoll in the MDP Primary being held today across the country.
Police said that two from Rathafandhoo and 1 from Thinadhoo have been arrested over the damage to the ballot boxes.
Meanwhile, Vice Speake of the Parliament Eva Abdullah said that those arrested were representatives of the primary candidate and Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed.
MP Eva, who is supporting Nasheed in the primary, shared pictures of the representatives who have been arrested over the ballot boxes damage.
But neither authorities nor party officials have confirmed this.
While voting has begun at 09:00 am in the morning, several reports of voter fraud have surfaced across the country with many voters names omitted from the lists at the polling stations.
