Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed says the country should be governed as per the wishes of its people but the administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih is going against the wishes of the people.
He made the remarks at the MDP gathering held on Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo last night.
Nasheed said that there are a lot of things that do not make sense because of how the country is being managed.
He further said that it was wrong to carry on with governing the country without taking a vote to change the governing system in the country.
While he had many discussions on the matter with the President, Nasheed said that the government should be formed as per the wishes of the people.
The Speaker mentioned that MDP won a supermajority at the Parliament because of him and that he convinced party leaders to compete for all the seats of the parliament.
The Speaker had also spoken on the governing system issue at the recently aired 'Ask the Speaker' program in which he said that discussions on holding the Presidential Primary must not precede the discussion of changing the system.
