Housing Minister Mohamed Aslam says it takes more than 5 years to complete housing projects and stated that an additional 2 years is required for such projects.
Speaking at the Parliamentary Committee on National Development And Heritage, the Minister said that while the application submission stage for Male' residents' land plots is now over, the Ministry was now sifting through the application forms.
He further said that the work was delayed as the President did not compile a research committee required for the work.
The Minister said that once the committee is compiled, the Ministry would announce those who have been shortlisted for the land plots in May of next year.
Minister Aslam mentioned that the land plots that would be released from Hulhumale have been measured but the lands from Gulheefalhh still need to be reclaimed.
He added that the administration would not be able to complete the 5,000 housing flats it has opened for application.
