Three teachers from Alifu Alifu Ukulhas school have been suspended for refusing to teach dancing to their students.

Sources have said the teachers were reportedly suspended for refusing to prepare preschoolers for a dance in the school concert.

In the notice issued to the teachers, it said that the responsibility of the teachers was to implement the national curriculum. But the teachers have blatantly disregarded the curriculum and refused to organize activities that would help students achieve the outcomes outlined in the curriculum.

It further said that the teachers would be on suspension till a full administrative investigation is done on the matter.

The teachers were suspended for five days.

Initially, four teachers had refused to teach the music-based dance to the students but one of the teachers backed out when the school's Principal ordered them to obey Ministry guidelines.

So far Ukulhas School have been unreachable for comment.
