Planning Ministry says the government is set to open the newly developed picnic island 'Kudagiri' to the public next month.
State Minister at the Ministry Akram Kamaaludeen said that 95 percent of the island's facilities and services are now complete.
Akram further said that the contractor was currently making last-minute preparations and that the government aims to open the island to the public in November.
The government awarded the contract to develop the picnic island to Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC in September of last year.
It had initially planned to open the picnic island last July on the occasion of Independence day celebrated on the 26th of July each year.
But had later delayed the opening indefinitely citing incomplete work on the island.
The MVR 41.4 million project was given to MTCC to be completed within 150 days.
