Police say the brutally murdered victim 21-year-old Shiaau Mohamed died because of the horrific injuries inflicted on her body by her killer.
Shiaau's body was found in an apartment in Male' earlier this year and her death shocked the nation after it was revealed that her killer horrifically mutilated her body. The victim was found decapitated and her limbs cut off with the crime scene bloody and gruesome.
Police arrested 22-year-old Ali Shahil at the crime scene and he will remain under police custody till the end of the murder trial.
At a press conference today, Chief Investigator for the case Inspector Mohamed Sameehu said that the victim died because of the injuries inflicted on her body. He said that this was proven by the autopsy report and that the victim had many wounds on her body.
Speaking at the press conference, Head of Serious and Organized Crime Department Superindant Hassan Saeed said that the Police had enough evidence to get a conviction for the murder.
He further said that Police want to know the motive behind the brutal crime and that they are now working to establish the motive of the murder.
Saeed added that no other individual was involved in the crime other than Shahil who is currently under arrest for the murder.
