The Anti-Corruption Commission ACC and the Prosecutor General's Office have entered into an agreement with each other to work together in the future.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Prosecutor General's Office today with Prosecutor General Hussain Shameem signing on behalf of his office and President of ACC Adam Shamil signing on behalf of the Commission.
The PG Office said that under this agreement both organizations would work together in overlapping areas in terms of their responsibilities as per the Constitution and relevant laws.
This includes preventing corruption and providing technical support to each other.
PG Office said that it would be sharing legal and procedural information regarding corruption cases the ACC investigates and forwards to the PG office for charging.
Both organizations are currently working together on corruption-related cases in terms of investigating as well as charging. The PG Office said that its duty prosecution system is already providing relevant support and information in corruption-related investigations.
It added that today's agreement would further strengthen this cooperation.
