Maldives Bureau of Statistics MBS says around 900 places in the Greater Male' Area are yet to give their information to Census 2022.
In a statement, MBS said that some of these places were locked while others have been unreachable. It also said that at some places there weren't any individuals who can give the appropriate information while information from other places has not been collected because enumerators have been unable to keep their appointments.
MBS further said these places may be out of business or may actually be residences and urged the public to notify the bureau of places of businesses, labor quarters, and out-of-business places that have not been included in the census.
It also said that those residents and businesses that have not been able to provide their information can notify the bureau by filling a form on its website and that appropriate arrangements would then be made. It said that the census team had been unable to contact some industrial islands and urged its owners to get in touch with MBS to share information for the Census 2022.
The Bureau said that though it had initially scheduled to announce the temporary results of the Census on the 6th of this month, it would be unable to meet the deadline as it believes the Census must reflect all the information available.
It added that it has now postponed the announcement of the temporary results to the 20th of this month.
