Chief of Defence Force Major General Abdullah Shamaal says the nations in the world are compelled to work together as we are witnessing a significant era of geopolitical transformation.

He made the remarks remark while speaking at the official function held to mark the 130th anniversary of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).

Addressing the foreign dignitaries present at the ceremony last night, Major General Shamaal said that the security landscape has become more uncertain, intricate, and complex today.

He noted that with the manifestation of hybrid irregular warfare and transnational security pacts taking a centre stage, nations are compelled to work together.

The Major General said that countering tracks such as cross-border terrorism, illicit trafficking, and Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated fishing have become high-security priorities today.

He said in this regard, building the operational capacity and capabilities of the Maldivian national defense force and creating greater maritime domain awareness as well as ensuring mutual security remains at the hub of our defense and security cooperation efforts.

He thanked our foreign partners for their work to fortitude the armed forces and said that the Maldives profoundly and truly value their consistent support and effort towards this endeavor.
