Maldives Immigration says passport services are currently down due to a technical problem.
Immigration had said in a tweet earlier this morning that it was working to resolve the problem and will resume passport services around 12:00 pm today.
But Immigration later tweeted that the problem remains unsolved after 12:00 pm and would notify when the passport services are back online.
While Immigration apologized for the inconvenience caused, it stopped short of giving more information on the technical problem that had downed its system.
The disruption to the passport services had come after the Immigration increased working hours to release passports late into the night.
Immigration said that though it had been issuing around 200 passports daily, the number has now risen to 800 in the last month.
