The Bar Council has begun its investigation of lawyer Nazim Sattar who was arrested after a video was leaked of him having homosexual relations with another man.
Nazim Sattar, who is also the brother of the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed, was caught having same-sex relations with Bangladeshi migrant MD Alamgiri, who has been seen in videos with several other men.
Nazim's misconduct case was filed at the Bar Council by lawyer Ahmed Thoriq.
While the bar council has the power to disbar a lawyer and revoke their license, the Council had said that due to the lack of resources such investigation takes a considerable time.
While Nazim was arrested on the 28th of last month, he remains under remand custody and the Police have now forwarded his case to the Prosecutor General's Office for formal charging.
He along with 2 others are set to face criminal charges due to the leaked videos which include offenses set out in the Penal Code as well as the Sexual Offenses Act.
