Former President Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik says he has forgiven all who aimed wrong and hurtful accusations at him and his family after he stepped up to take the oath as President back in 2012.

The then-Vice President Dr. Waheed was forced to take the Presidential Oath after his running mate and then-President Mohamed Nasheed resigned from his post on February 7th following mass protests against his rule by both the public and the security services.

Supporters of the government had then turned against Dr. Waheed and aimed harsh criticism at him and his family till he stepped down from the post after completing his term back in 2013.

In a tweet, Dr. Waheed said that he had since forgiven all those who had believed Nasheed's false narrative against him and had aimed harsh and hurtful accusations at him and his family.

He further said that he apologized to anyone who had suffered unjustly during his short reign as President.

He tweeted this as a comment to a tweet by a member of the public who appraised Dr. Waheed for his tolerance and lauded him for being able to work with someone like Nasheed.

Nasheed, who is now the Speaker of the parliament, has been in the limelight for the last 24 hours after he made serious allegations against President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih saying that he had explicit pictures of the President having sex with a young girl.

The President through his spokesperson has denied these accusations and had said that he had not been involved in any such acts.
