Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam says the Ministry is working to open the application for the Male' area residential plots on the 26th of this month.
Speaking at the Parliament today, Minister Aslam said that for Male' residents, 1344 units of the Vinares flats would be open for application soon and that the work on the other 4,000 units is rapidly progressing.
The government had said earlier that it plans to provide 5,000 residential plots from Hulhumalé and Gulhifalhu for permanent residents of Malé.
It had also said that out of that 3,000 land plots would be open for application at the end of this month.
The 5,0000 plots include 1,000 land plots from the Hulhumale' second phase, 1,000 land plots from Gulheefalhu, and 2,000 plots from the land reclaimed from the Giraavaru lagoon.
While Male' residents can apply for the land plots, the applicants must not have a land larger than 600 sq ft to their name as well as must not inherit such a land plot.
If the applicant does have such land or has inherited such land plot, they must be willing to relinquish ownership to the government.
