President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih says that as the country welcomes the holy month of Ramadan, the biggest joy is that the nation has overcome the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and can now devote its full attention to religious matters.
He made this statement while addressing the nation on the occasion of the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, 1443 A.H.
The President stated that the protective measures that were taken to curb the spread of the virus had been lifted and that life had returned to normalcy, which would allow people to perform congregation prayers in mosques.
The President urged the people to be more motivated in taking advantage of this opportunity to fast, pray the Thara'weeh, and recite the Holy Quran.
President Solih also stated that the holy month of Ramadan was filled with blessings and forgiveness and thus advised the people to be more kind and prioritize familial ties, friendliness, and good manners, as well as helping each other and bring forth humanity, which would elevate one's rank in the hereafter.
The President emphasized the importance of indulging in religious matters and concluded his address by expressing hope that the whole Islamic Ummah would receive the benevolence of the holy month.
The Islamic Ministry had declared that 2nd April would be the 1st of Ramadan this year in the moon-sighting ceremony held last night. Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali had said that today was declared the first day of Ramadan after the crescent moon was sighted in some parts of the Maldives and in several other Muslim nations.
We at The Press wish our readers a blessed Ramadan.
