President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has expressed his displeasure at the speed of the Greater Male' Connectivity Project or the Thila Male' Bridge Project.

He said this during his weekly press conference held today at his office.

When asked about the project, the President commented that the bridge project was moving very slowly and that he personally did not like the speed of the biggest infrastructure project in the country, adding that no citizen would be happy with the speed of the project.

The President explained that the government had done all it could from its side and that the contractor had asked for a deadline extension, which the government had granted following thorough evaluations.

President Muizzu said the government would be very happy when the project is completed. He added that the previous deadline was in 2024 but has been pushed back to 2027.

His comments about the bridge project came a day after the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development said that 71 percent of the project has been completed.
