Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed that only 20 percent of the samples taken in the last 24 hours have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives.
HPA said on Monday that in the last 24 hours, 5,042 samples had been tested for COVID-19 and that 1,015 had tested positive for the pandemic.
The Agency said that 182 out of these were confirmed from the Greater Male' Area where the positivity rate had now significantly dropped and is now at 11 percent.
HPA also confirmed another 728 new cases from the inhabited islands and 44 from operational resorts. It said that it was yet to determine the location of 61 cases reported yesterday.
The new cases take the total number of COVID cases reported in the Maldives to a staggering 160,076.
HPA had said that currently there are 15,818 active cases of the pandemic and that the number of hospitalized COVID patients has now dropped to 29.
It has recorded 143,956 COVID recoveries while 289 individuals have succumbed to the pandemic here in the Maldives.
