Health Protection Agency HPA has confirmed 1,096 new cases of COVID-19 in the Maldives on Wednesday as the drop in cases continues in the country.
HPA said yesterday that out of the 1,096 cases, 338 were reported from the Greater Male Area. This means the positivity rate in the capital city has now fallen to a promising 19 percent.
The Agency also reported another 549 new cases from the inhabited islands and 77 new cases from the operational resorts.
HPA said that it was working to determine the location of 132 new cases reported yesterday.
The total number of cases reported in the Maldives has now reached 154,511.
HPA had said that currently there are 16,095 active cases of the pandemic in the country and that 60 COVID patients remained hospitalized for further treatment.
The Agency had also recorded 138,117 recoveries in the Maldives.
The COVID-19 pandemic has however killed 286 people in the Maldives. Most of those who has pass away include elderly locals with underlying medical conditions but few younger individuals have also succumbed to the fast-spreading disease.
