President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that his government would conduct a land reclamation project in 'Giraavaru' lagoon near the capital and allocate 2,000 land plots to just Male' citizens.
The President made the announcement in his Presidential Address at the start of the first session of Parliament for the year today.
President Solih said that his administration has planned to allocate land plots to Male' citizens and would give 1,000 land plots from Hulhumale' alone.
He added that the government is planning to allocate at least 2,000 land plots just for Male' citizens and that the government is looking to kick-off the project in June of this year.
President Solih promised that he would finish this presidential term by awarding the land plots and handing over the land registries to the most deserved Male' citizens.
He added that the public must benefit from all the resources under the government's power.
