A foreigner has been injured in a reported incident of domestic abuse in Male'.
The woman was allegedly assaulted by her husband and Police had confirmed the incident.
Police said that they had received a report of a husband assaulting his wife earlier today and police had attended the call.
Police added that the victim is now under treatment at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital.
Images circulating on social media show a bloodied woman being assisted by police officers.
The pictures also show that her dress had been soaked in blood. The nurture of her injuries remains unclear.
Domestic abuses cases are still commonplace in Maldivian society and Police statistics show that in the third quarter of last year 179 such incidents were reported to the Police.
Police said that they had investigated 59 cases and had sent 3 cases to the Prosecutor General's Office while it had resolved 36 cases.
