The Maldives and the Turkish have signed 5 key agreements during Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu's 2-day visit to the Maldives.

One of the agreements includes an agreement on cultural cooperation. The Foreign Ministry said that with this agreement Turkey will assist in the revival and promotion of Maldivian culture and traditions and promotion of Maldivian handicraft in Turkey.

State Minister at the Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage Mohamed Thoriq signed on behalf of the government of the Maldives while Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu signed for Turkey.

The two countries signed an agreement on the field of Environment, which will see the two countries cooperate in waste management and renewable energy production.

Environment Minister Shauna Aminath was on hand to sign on behalf of the Maldives.

Meanwhile, the Maldives and Turkey signed an MOU on agricultural cooperation. The Foreign Ministry said through this MOU, Maldivian farmers will receive vocational and professional training and help expand the agricultural sector.

The two countries also signed an agreement on trade and economic cooperation which will see a ministerial-level Joint Economic Commission established to further enhance economic and trade cooperation.

Finally, the Turkish Diplomacy Academic and Foreign Service Institute of Maldives, and the Maldives signed an agreement on cooperation which paves the way for stronger cooperation between the two diplomacy academies.
