Anti Corruption Commission ACC says it has received a case about the Komandoo-Mathi Komandoo Connectivity Project that was announced recently ahead of the Komandoo byelection.
ACC said that complaint was filed on the 19th of this month and that the complaint said that the project was initiated to influence voters ahead of the election and that the project had not been included in the budget.
The Commission added that it was investigating the case.
The much-awaited connectivity project was announced at the campaign launch of MDP candidate for Komandoo byelection Mohamed Rashad.
The project was then given to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company MTCC on the 12th of this month to be completed within two years at a cost of MVR 249.9 million.
The Komandoo constituency by-election is scheduled to take place on the 5th of next month and all three major parties in the country have fielded candidates to compete in the election.
But the Elections Commission has accused all candidates of anti-campaigning ahead of the election.
